Unique Sentences are sentences that have never been said before in the history of mankind. Sometimes they just happen to pop up in conversation. This is a site to collect them for posterity.
A: Why not? I developed an interest in unique sentences around a decade ago. Being a geek, I've been threatening to put up a website about it ever since. I finally got around to it. Hopefully it'll help me learn about building websites...
A: At Unique Sentence, we work on the principle that all of our sentences are unique. It's just that some are more unique than others.
A: Primarily, you should judge a sentence on how unique you think it is across all history. The best unique sentences have never, ever been said before, and are unlikely to be said again (except maybe on this website!)
You could also knock points off if a sentence sounds contrived, or if it's unique in some kind of mundane fasion. "Tristan and Eloise are going to Harpenden to see Tarquin on Thurdsay 1st May" is probably unique, but that's mostly because of the proper nouns and the fact that the 1st May isn't a Thursday terribly often.
All else being equal, shorter sentences are better than longer sentences.
Advanced raters may try to take into consideration the comedy value of any given sentence.
A: We will never reveal your email address to any third parties. Only you can see your email address; no other users can view it. Any emails sent to you by uniquesentence.com will be related to this site only, and will never include third-party advertising.
Currently, we only send emails to welcome people to the site or to remind people of lost passwords.
A: We don't actually store your password, just a safely-encrypted version of it1 so we never even know what it is. If you lose your password, we'll set a new one for you randomly and email it to you.
As with many websites, we don't use secure http for our connections, so it's possible that a hostile party "sniffing" the network between you and us could see your passwords. We therefore recommend that you don't use the same password for Unique Sentence as you use for more important websites!
Using different passwords for different sites is good practice in general, and especially so if you often use open "WiFi" access points, which are easily compromised.
A: Using the Contact Us form.
